On-sale date from DC Releases #26. The Direct (first printing), Newsstand and Canadian variants have the regular cover differences in pricing, and UPC box contents, but have the same indicia, inside front cover, inside back cover, and back cover content. Some copies contain a 12 page insert for the Mask comic series. The second, third and fourth printing variants were distributed to the direct market only, the content on the inside front cover, inside back cover and back cover varied, with some advertisements having a 1989 copyright date. The content of the UPC box is different from the Direct (first printing) UPC box, while the second and fourth printing have the same UPC content. The indicia for the second and fourth printing have additional text indicating the printing sequence. The indicia of the third printing is identical to the indicia of the first printing.

  • Binary Brains - Story continues from Detective Comics #563; story continues in Detective Comics #564. Story title from Ralf H. Kienzle.
  • Uncover a MASK Adventure - Twelve page advertising section promoting MASK merchandise: 1 ad page, followed by a 3.5 page story (see next sequence), then 5.5 more ad pages, and finally a 2 page sweepstakes. This advertisement is inserted in the center of the comic.
  • Secret of the Temple - Part of the 12 page MASK advertising section. This story follows immediately after the first ad page.
