Who is Jim Lawson?

Jim Lawson (born February 19, 1960; 63 years old) is an American comic book illustrator best known for his work on the Eastman and Laird's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series at Mirage Studios, eventually becoming the series' main artist during volume 1 and remained throughout volumes 2 and 4. Lawson created the Rat King and Shadow Jones, and also co-created the series Planet Racers with Peter Laird, and is the writer and artist of the black-and-white comic series Paleo: Tales of the Late Cretaceous. For more than 20 years Lawson was the author and artist of TMNT comics, but in 2009, after Peter Laird's surprise sale of TMNT to Viacom, Lawson announced he was leaving Mirage. He still draws TMNT art which he posts on Facebook, and more rarely draws alternative cover art for the IDW comics as well as cover art for newer trade paperback releases of Mirage and Archie TMNT comics. -- via Turtlepedia
